Water & Power Development Authority (Wapda) chairman Tariq Hamid has directed the line staff not to work on live lines without T&P equipment even if they are asked for.

In his message for the Wapda workers in connection with the Safety Day, the Wapda chairman said that safety of its line staff was regarded as the most preferred responsibility of the authority and would never be compromised upon.

He stated that all field formations had been strictly instructed that there must be no shortage of safety equipment.

He advised the line staff to observe precautionary measures during their duties, besides following instructions issued time to time for the purpose.

The fatal accidents not only deprive Wapda of its valued assets - the experienced worker - but they also leave whole of the family to suffer, he said.
